Pro Tips

  • Focus on high priority steps first for maximum efficiency
  • Optional steps can be skipped if you're short on time
  • Plan your spark crafts carefully - consult Wowhead for current best-in-slot
  • Don't forget to check your vault every week for free upgrades

Understanding Gear Tracks & Crest Optimization

WoW uses a gear track system where each item level has an upgrade track (1-8). Understanding this helps you spend crests wisely:

  • Gear Tracks: Adventurer (1-8) → Veteran (1-8) → Champion (1-8) → Hero (1-8) → Myth (1-8)
  • Smart Upgrading: A Veteran 8/8 item is better than a Champion 1/8 item (higher ilvl)
  • Crest Priority: Focus on upgrading your best pieces to max track (8/8) before moving to the next track
  • Don't Waste Crests: Avoid upgrading items you'll replace soon - prioritize slots without better options available
  • Weathered Crests: Use liberally on early gearing (Adventurer/Veteran tracks)
  • Runed/Gilded Crests: Save for your best-in-slot pieces that you'll keep long-term
